There is something so special about getting to photograph someone you’ve known throughout such an important season of life and this grad session felt like a true full-circle moment.

I met Maddie my sophomore year of college through our sorority at Georgia College in Milledgeville, and getting to come back to GCSU to capture her graduation photos just one year after graduating myself made this session incredibly meaningful. Walking around campus brought back so many memories, and it was so fun seeing her celebrate this milestone in the same place that shaped so many of our college years.

The weather leading up to the session had been rainy all week. We originally planned for a  6pm sunset session, but when we checked the forecast early that morning, we realized the only sunny window of the entire day was at 8am. So, we quickly pivoted, and met on campus right after sunrise.

And I am SO glad we did.

The morning light was absolutely beautiful and campus was so quiet before the rain and clouds rolled in later that day. It ended up being one of those sessions that reminds me why flexibility is so important in photography. Sometimes the last-minute changes turn into the best decisions.

I’m so grateful I got to document this season for such a sweet friend and celebrate all of her hard work in a place that means so much to both of us.
